Michael Nguyen, a University of Houston BBA graduate, celebrates 20 years as a flutist. His musical journey began with a CD of Teresa Teng’s popular songs, sparking his passion for the flute. Currently Flute II/Piccolo with the Energy Corridor Houston Orchestra (ECHO), he has also held the Flute III/Piccolo chair with the Symphony North of Houston and previously subbed with the Houston Civic Symphony. Since 2023, he co-founded and consults for the Houston Concert Band’s Flute Ensemble. Michael specializes in low flutes with the Brazos Breeze and Flutes on the Bayou flute choirs.

Michael's dedication to his craft led him to compete as a finalist in the 2025 Byron Hester Flute Competition, hosted by the Houston Flute Club.

An active content creator, Michael’s “Mask Off” flute cover has gained over 4.5 million views on YouTube. In 2024, he co-founded Wildflower Winds, a professional flute trio showcasing the full range of the flute family.
